Pete tossed the door shut after she left. “They deserve each other. She threatened a pregnant woman and she’s pregnant! Who does that?”

“Pete…” Nina wiped her tears. She breathed out slowly.

“I’m going to call Uncle Albert. I don’t trust her. No way in hell are we doing a paternity test with Aiden Keane trying to fix things.”

“Pete! Stop it okay!” Nina put a hand to her forehead.

“Babe? What’s wrong?”

She lowered her hand. She forced a smile. “It’s time, sweetheart. That’s why I came out of the room. I was waiting for this drama to end so I could tell you.”

“Time?”

“For the baby!”

“Oh? Shit! My baby! What? Why didn’t you say something sooner?”

Nina laughed. “Our baby, and yes.” Pete tripped over his feet to get to her. She pushed him away. “Get our things. I’ll go to the car. And, Pete, calm down. I’m fine.”

“Right! Right. I’m cool. I’m calm.” He kissed her. “I’ll hurry. It’s time! It’s time!”
